My name is Jordan Hood, and I’m a first-year student at Agnes Scott College. I’m a native to Atlanta, Georgia, and a part of the Class of ‘24. I knew what I wanted to do in life at the tender age of 3; I started drawing. After absorbing what little information I could about art in elementary and middle school, I became sure about this career in high school. My pathway gave a wider range of classes in the field: AP 2D Design, IB Visual Art, Advanced Graphic Design, etc. Now, I’m a Studio Art major.

In grade-school, I dove into additional hobbies to ensure I had enough options to pursue. I’ve always been a bookworm and the interest evolved in high school, where I was taught how to write well. Narrative (and fiction) will always be my favorite realm to work within, but my junior year taught me to enjoy writing informative, argumentative, and persuasive pieces as well. Additionally, as a YouTube personality, I enjoy storyboarding, filming, and editing. So, if I ever considered a double major, it would be either in Creative Writing or Film.

The pandemic has certainly been an overwhelming experience; however, it has strengthened my faith (religiously and personally.) It’s made me find peace of mind and value in every person and place I have or will experience. Overall, I’m extremely excited to learn more about my craft and the women in the industry I hold so dear. High school reminded me how little women are represented, whether it be in history lessons or day-to-day classes. I can’t wait to change that.
